Do Chocolate Covered Strawberries Taste Better Fresh or Chilled?

This is a genuine debate among chocolate strawberry enthusiasts — and the answer is: slightly cool, but not cold.

Straight from the fridge, chocolate covered strawberries can taste muted. Cold suppresses flavour, particularly the aromatic compounds in chocolate, which means eating them at refrigerator temperature (around 4°C) gives you less of the full flavour experience.

At room temperature, the opposite problem occurs — particularly in Dubai. The chocolate begins to soften, the coating loses its structure, and the presentation suffers. Room temperature in Dubai in summer is significantly warmer than in most countries, which accelerates this process considerably.

The sweet spot is somewhere in between: refrigerate your La Fraise box on arrival, then take it out 10 to 15 minutes before eating. At this slightly cool temperature — around 14–16°C — the chocolate coating has structure and snap, the flavours are fully expressed, and the strawberry inside is fresh and firm.

If you are serving them to guests, take them out of the fridge when you are getting everything else ready. By the time you are seated, they will be at the ideal temperature.

Fresh — meaning eaten within a few hours of being made — is always better than chilled for several days. This is why we make every La Fraise box on the day of delivery.
